During some of my research I have found some cases where people of color actually can have an advantage over a white man. Although this is rare, race in workforce can be a two way street. For example if two people apply to a job, one is african american and the other is white, and they are both equally qualified. The person of color may get the job because they need more diversity in the company. This an unlikely scenerio but it does happen. The thought of any racism in the workforce is just sickening to me. Whether it is towards blacks, whites, hispanics, or whatever it should not even have to be considered. People should not have to hire someone just because they are or are not colored, it should be based on talent and experience. People can not be hired or promoted just because the rich white owner decided he wants white men to work for him. We are all human beings and should be treated as such. I fear that this issue will never be totally eliminated but every little bit helps and together we can make a difference.

Introductory post

The origin of this issue go back as far as the time of slaves. People of different colors and nationalities have been ridiculed and persecuted for thier skin color and beliefs. It was only a matter of before people of color entered the work force. Once they were in the workforce that same narrow minded attitude from the slave days carryed into the work force. Even today it is still a big issue, which is hard to belive that in this day and age race is still an issue. Race is still a very serious issue today that must be put to a stop especially in the workforce. We are all people and should be treated equally and have equal opportunities. The reason I chose this topic is because I am not a person of color and therefore have no idea what it is like to be treated this way and I just want to get educated about the matter so that I can know just how hard the workforce can be for some people. The reason I want to learn more about this subject is because I want to know more about why this still goes on in the world today.
